Rowan Design

This first jewellery design—one of many to come—is a tribute to the spirit of nature: a unified, living orchestra that surrounds us and of which we are an inseparable part.

It represents our collective creator, peering through the leaves of the Rowan tree. As we gaze into the gemstone, our reflection appears—we become the "little person in the stone." In that moment, a quiet union forms between ourselves and the soul of the natural world.

This vision came to me years ago when I cut my first gemstone in the shape of an eye, tailored for handpiece faceting. The Rowan, long seen as a tree of spiritual protection, seemed the perfect symbol. To me, the eye represents our creator.

Over time, I approached jewellers from all over the world—many I met during my gem-cutting journey—in search of someone who could bring this design to life. Yet, I never found quite what I was envisioning. So, I chose to embark on my own creative path and craft the jewellery myself, right here in Scotland, from start to finish.

I began by pressing Rowan leaves between the pages of a book to preserve their delicate form. Then, using a piece of Blu Tack, I arranged the leaves around the gemstone to mimic the feminine contours of an eye socket.

Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of meeting generous, talented individuals who offered guidance and shared their wisdom. This journey has been full of both setbacks and breakthroughs—but it continues to evolve.

The photos you'll see in this process capture moments from that unfolding story.

I’m excited to share the final pieces with you—and to bring more one-of-a-kind eye designs into the world in the near future.
